Professor Creates Marijuana DNA Database at University of New Haven

Heather Miller Coyle, a forensic botanist in the Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences at the University of New Haven, is setting up a national databank for marijuana DNA that will permit law enforcement to track where the drug originated when there is a bust.

Coyle also has developed a new method for collecting the marijuana’s genetic fingerprint that makes it easy for law enforcement on the scene of a case to collect the samples.
